I am a Director working in education and my training is as a Careers Adviser, not that that career features. Over the years I've completed lots of psychometric tests and come out with similar results. If you want to be a Social Worker, I would suggest you start by contacting your local authority and find out if there are any routes in where you would not have to study full time. There is a lack of social workers especially working with the elderly, so it may be that they have a route in that is funded. Obviously, the economic climate isn't good for this right now, but speaking to someone at your council social work dept will also give you information about the type of work experience they are looking for.
