Sunday
A sad day at work, one of our supervisors has decided to retire, so we gave her a fitting farewell for somebody who has been there that long. Will be a sadder place for her not being there, and many of us will miss her. Enjoy your retirement T.

Monday
updated the story on my mp3 player. My tinnitus is getting worse and finding it very very difficult to sleep at night without something to distract me from it. Even switch it on if I wake in the middle of the night. Its dead handy it has a timer on so just set it for about 25 mins and leave it to run.

Tuesday
Hubby's birthday today, but we do not really go in for adults birthdays in this house. But was a very foggy start to the morning. Still quite mild though.

Wednesday
Had a Chinese for tea tonight, our usual place was shut so tried a different place. The food was ok, sadly nothing can really compare to our usual I have to say. Not quite sure what they had put in their spring roll but it looked like Kennomeat, so we ate the casing and left the middle. Their fried rice was stained red as well, worries me that they are colouring cos it is past its best. But we are both still alive!!

Thursday
It stopped raining just after 6pm so spur of the moment to go to the fireworks in Kilmarnock. Phoned the grandchildren but Fifi was doing homework so Bob came with us.

Friday
Hubby has fitted a socket to the landing upstairs. One big issue we have in this house is trying to keep it warm. We have some daft wet electric heating that runs for six hours on and two hours off all day and night. The boiler must be from last century, it is massive, takes nine units an hour and does not adequately heat the radiators. So this socket will give us somewhere to plug in a portable heater for up the stairs. There was no socket on the top landing.

Saturday
Got my Tesco cub card points through yesterday, and was informed I still had some that had been lying unused since Feb 2014. So today on the way to work I nipped in and used the double up to buy an oil filled radiator for the living room.

Fabulous photos of the fireworks! Love the photo of the fog, very atmospheric. Hope the socket and radiator help keep the house a bit warmer x
ReplyDeleteI am hoping they help to keep us warm as well.
DeleteYou captured some great firework shots!
ReplyDeletethank you, the best I could manage with my point and shot camera
Deleteoh Elaine, my OH suffers badly with tinnitus so i do sympathise - i don't know how you both mange to get on with your lives with that instant noise in your ears.
ReplyDeleteGREAT fireworks photos - bet Bob loved seeing them.
sounds like a great send off for a great lady - hope you manage to keep in touch with her xx
dont have a choice but to get on with my life, it is not going away.
DeleteI am hoping to keep in touch as well.
Hope the extra socket works for you - just a heads up, but did you know you can get a free boiler - might be worth looking into but the government has a scheme to get everyone energy efficient xx
ReplyDeleteI will make a phone call and ask about the free boiler scheme, we certainly are not energy efficient here and we are all electric so got to be worth a call - thank you
DeleteGreat firework photos. We've not seen any this year, and had to call off our own firework/bonfire plans.
ReplyDeleteGood having a handy husband. Hope you get the place heated better now.
yes a handy husband can be a godsend. Shame your firework plans were cancelled.
DeleteBrilliant fireworks shots!! We need extra sockets for one of the bedrooms, so handy to have around aren't they!
ReplyDeletethank you, I liked them, quite happy from my cheap end camera.
DeleteSorry to hear your tinnitus is getting worse.
ReplyDeleteWas just going to say what Kara said about the free boiler...may be worth looking into.
Love the firework pics! Always sad when a work colleague leaves
Going to look into the free boiler, thanks.
DeleteTinnitus is really getting beyond a joke.
Missed her at the weekend.
love the firework pictures, sadly they dont do this in South Africa, I'm sure the ones in Dubai were spectacular, but that will have to wait for new year now.
ReplyDeleteGosh your firework pics are fantastic Elaine! I find it really hard to get good ones. Sorry to hear about your tinnitus. Sounds horrible :(
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your tinnitus it must be awful but I am pleased to hear that you have found a solution for night time and are getting some sleep. Hope your hubby had a great day. You status made me chuckle the other day about him watching Deal or No Deal with subtitles but knowing the contestant was Scottish :-) sorry I am late commenting and thank you for linking me up x
ReplyDeleteWe have the same problem with our hall stairs and landing having no sockets in this house. It's a 3 story house with no sockets anywhere on those area. Hope this makes a difference to the heating. That Chinese looks awful.
