This week my word of the week is Dreaming #WOTW

Do you ever sit and dream about what you would do if some unexpected money came your way. I have been entering the Cash Superstars competition currently being run on the local radio station, and dreaming about what I would do if I win, sadly being played across the greatest hits network so probably me and half a million others entering ever day, but in it to win it as they say.

Some decisions would have to be made as to what we would prioritise and some of the ideas I currently have as a win of just over £2000 would leave me with a will I wont I decision. Some days the prize has been a lot more so I could do more with it.

I would like to say I would blow most of it on an electric bike, a bike carrier for the back of the car and any accessories that appeal that would be handy. But that would take most if not all of the money. Due to my house being mid terraced  then a bike shed in the front garden would be handy to save me trailing it through the house every time I want to get it out. We do have a right of way through the end terraced garden from ours but they have a car in their driveway a lot of the time and I would not take it that way for fear of damaging their car.

Where as £2000 would solve a lot of others items that need replacing. My front door mat for one I keep saying I will replace, have the cheek to keep the rotted thing on my doorstep, it cannot possibly be doing any good apart from covering the uneven slabs. The front garden wall still needs finishing off before the rain and frosts get chance to get in and start causing damage to the bricks, which will cause more expense in the long run.

Moving inside the rugs in my kitchen and hall were cheap when we moved in six years ago and are no longer slip resistant. I have a notion for a dishwasher, have talked about a work top one as no room under a cupboard for one but hubby reckons we should go for a full size one and put the dryer in a shed. If we were to do this would make more sense to replace it with a self condensing model, but nothing wrong with the one we have, it works fine and has not had massive amounts of use since we got it exchanged by Hotpoint a few years back.

My dish drainer on the draining board has started to crack. I know these things are relatively cheap but just never get round to getting the items and if you change one thing it makes others look bad. If I change the drainer the bowl could do with changing. But then if I have my dishwasher wont have much use for a dish drainer.

I have detested my ceramic hob since the day we moved in. It looks fine, works fine but every time you take an oven tray out the cooker and put it on top to stir the food or dish up it has a bad habit of being turned on by the heat - so we need to remember to switch it off at the wall so we do not end up with an accident if something is on top when it turns itself on and nobody realises, we have had a couple of close calls with it over the years. Now we just keep it turned off at the switch in the cupboard.

Now if I don't buy my electric bike I have a notion for some weight training equipment and maybe an exercise bike or elliptical walker. This can be picked up second hand as many people buy them but barely use them, they collect dust and then get sold. But no where to put items in the house so I would need a shed for the garden to put them in.

Mentioning the garden hubby still wants to finish the garden off with edging the area that is covered in weed suppressant and chipping it.Then we will need some nice pots to add to it to make a feature of it.

When the weather is as hot as it has been a  nice wee air cooler would be handy, and some heat reflecting roller blinds for the front of the house. We always say we don't get this really hot weather very often, but seems to be getting more and more of it every year.

Finally I would love a holiday. A few weeks away touring the Highlands and possible the Islands of Scotland, but then it is midge season so I would go south of the border instead. Lots of places in the UK I have not been.

So if any of you have a mere £10,000 that you have lying around doing nothing give me a shout and I can put it to good use for you.

  1. I love all your plans. I do the same. Each time, something else is the priority. I think if I did win anything, I'd spend it over and over in my head for days before I decided. Good luck. You never know. You might be the next winner. #wotw

  2. There is always something that needs replacing isn't there? Ooh I would love an electric bike although I have a fear of cycling on the road which sort of limits me x

    1. there are cycling confidence courses out there for you to join in with which might help. I am cycling on roads I would not have done a few months back.

  3. I love dreaming about what I'd spend money on if it came my way. I recently had a lump sum in compensation for an accident I was in...so what did I do with it? Well, all the birthday presents for the year were paid for (with five kids, no mean feat) then I saved a sum for our holiday in Cornwall which I'd already paid for (We go in a couple of weeks) finally I bought myself a new cooker, mine needing replacing. The total amount would have been enough for a nice new wheelchair, but after a lot of debating I decided that I would try and save for one instead. I mean, having all the birthday presents bought means I can put some money aside each week, and the one I have still works okay. Anyway, fingers crossed that you win something nice :) Thanks for linking up to #wotw

  4. After the last week of riding a bike around I think I could fancy an electric bike too. My poor legs, they're not used to a normal bike. lol
I think I would be happy with £1000 just to get the decorating all done in one go instead of buying little bits every week. We've got the wallpaper for the kids rooms so we're getting there. Now we just need the paint.
It sounds like you have some great plans! Good luck with a big win!

  6. Lol, it is nice sometimes to dream about what we would do if we suddenly had a lot of money to spend. I like the sound of the electric bike and finishing off the garden sounds nice too. #WotW
