Walkers new hoops and crosses - a review

I was sent some of the new Walkers hoops and crosses to review.

What are these new snacks all about?

Walkers Baked Hoops and Crosses are a fun and tasty new range of X and O shaped corn based snacks. Walkers Hoops and Crosses are a source of wholegrain and dietary fibre and are set to drive sales for retailers by meeting consumer demand for a greater variety of 'better for you' family snacking options.

  • Each bag has 85 calories
  • Hoops and Crosses are made from wholegrains, have no artificial colours or preservatives and 30% less fat, the new snacks are perfect for lunch boxes, and are a fun way to get more wholegrain into kids without compromising on taste or quality.
  • They come in three flavours – all suitable for vegetarians (prawn cocktail, roast beef, salt and vinegar)
  • Walkers Hoops and Crosses will now feature a new 'Taste Good, Feel Good' banner at the top of the packs. This is being introduced to help parents navigate the snacks aisle and easily identify family snacks which are lower in fat, facilitating informed choices.

So what did we think about them?

We were sent a packet of beef flavour, strange concept that they make beef flavour for vegetarians, quite where the logic is in that I am not to sure.

They were a nice size, use able as a ring by children, and would be played with before being eaten at school, an educational snack at its finest.

I was surprised at the taste, I expected the to be strong powdery tasting but they were not. They remind me very much of beef monster munch but in a different shape.

I like the idea of the added wholegrain, but feel personally that the bags are slightly to large to put in a small child's pack lunch box.

They are well marked up for allergy advise.

At a RRP of £1.59 per pack of six, I felt they were an ok buy.

I would not buy them again as the flavours they are offered in are not my thing, but a nice chicken or tomato flavour I could be interested in.

I was sent the monkey, the crisps, and I will receive a payment for this post. This does not influence my thoughts or comments.
