Using Oral B to Love your Gums

Dentist....a word that sends a chill through a lot of us. Sadly they are an essential part of life if you are to keep your mouth healthy.

We grew up always going to the dentist for regular check ups. I suppose it was one of the few advantages of a nomadic service family life, every camp had their own dentist so there was no need for mum to find a local dentist, register us and take us. Most of the forces schools had dentists built into the actually school so you never had an excuse not to go, you went during class time.

I had all my back teeth filled as a teenager despite the fact we always had tooth brushes and cleaned our teeth as part of our daily routine. But apart from having those filling replaced over the years I am quite proud to say I have never really had any issues with my teeth.

I have taken all my children along to the dentist since before they were born, and regularly through out their childhood. They were sitting on my knee on the seat at weeks/months old and it became routine to them as well. We are also fortunate here in Scotland as our check ups are free, so no excuse not to go

My gums on the other hand are something I tended to get pulled up for. I was always told I brushed to hard and in the wrong direction. To get round this issue I have used an electric toothbrush for the last ten years or so. They may seem expensive but when you consider not only what they save you in dentist bills but also in the health of your mouth then they are worth every penny. This has made a huge difference and my recession seems to have pretty much stopped,  .

So when I was offered the chance to try out a toothpaste especially designed to help your gums how could I refuse. I was sent a full-size tube of the new Oral B Pro-Expert Premium Gum Protection toothpaste.

It says

  • Helps prevent and reduce gum problems in 4 weeks
  • Helps prevent causes of gum problems
  • Helps to slow bacterial growth to protect against gum problems
  • Fights tartar
  • Reduces plaque

I have been using this product for a few weeks now and I have to say my mouth feels clean, the product tastes good, I cant stand strong minty toothpastes, this is a nice mild product. My next dental check up will tell.

  1. Interesting to see connection between forces life and dental health. My best friend was in dentistry in Royal Air Force. Commenting for myself and on behalf of BritMums and thanking you for taking part.

  2. Some foods trigger canker sores or irritate the mouth so it is a good idea to pay attention to diet
